How to tell if MS SQL Server is installed

Summary

Use these steps to determine if MS SQL Server is installed on a machine.

Note: MS SQL Server could be installed anywhere on your intranet. You can check multiple machines or you can just check your CI database machine and install it if it is not on that machine. If it is not available, you can download and install Microsoft SQL Server Express for free.

Steps

  1. In Windows, go to Start > Programs.
  2. In the list of programs, look for a version of Microsoft SQL Server.
  3. If SQL Microsoft SQL Server is not there, then install Microsoft SQL Server and as well as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE). See Install Microsoft SQL Server components (MS SQL Express and MS SQL Management Studio Express).
